The United States of America is now bankrupt. It does not matter which political party will be in power over the next decades, the over-hang of $100 Trillion in unfunded liabilities from the local to Federal level, plus a hollow banking system, means there is no way to tax ourselves enough, or even cut spending enough, to have any chance to grow our way out of our problems.
What this means is that the productive elements of society will at some point go on strike, whether by choice or because they are forced to pack up their bags and hide. From Ayn Rand's famous novel Atlas Shrugged, comes the phrase "Who Is John Galt". Galt is the character who epitomizes the productive entrepreneur so fed up with the restrictions of the bureaucrats and corporatists that he decides to start a revolt of society's creators. In our current financial dilemma, Rand's theme has lead to the suggestion that productive citizens may only be able to survive by "Going Galt" and dropping out.
But how does one survive if one drops out of society, even for a short period? That's what this book is about, how to survive the upcoming economic collapse everyone knows is coming. What this book is not is anti-government, or anti-tax, or an anarchist cookbook, those are armchair discussions for the idle class. What "Going Galt" is about is surviving No Matter What Happens.

If you have a retirement account I suggest you look into the respective laws and determine if you can buy physical land. 10-15 acres as far away from a major metropolitan area. Plant fruit trees and develop cell paddocks to allow rotational grazing of sheep and goats. Obtain old farm equipment and learn Amish techniques. I am not Amish but those guys are right. I laugh when I see New Yorker elites paying Thousands for a hand crafted object or bottled food.
So what if we don't have a SHTF moment. You will still have a nice weekender!
Daxton, On the one hand I realize there is a great deal of truth in what you say and your advice is good. On the other hand I'm quite stubborn and haven't given up on our country yet, we just have to fight to correct the mess in Washington. See my webpage: www.stoptheinsanitytarget2014.com for my ideas and read my book if you want even more ideas on how we can change things.

News media on and off net censors how economy works, including twitter.. Living wages affords extras = healthy business = healthy money markets = permanent surplus. Spray hose up. Government deficits proves low wages are paid, or there would not be deficits ever, at all. A mean king who has a gold pit the size of Asia, but pays low wages, will still have a terrible economy, yet he will be able to pay his bills. Big business that makes good money overseas, is similar. Only raising incomes will cure this economy. A real gov. stimulus helps business pay affording incomes, -- includes getting costs off of people. We never have had 100% spender ability; profits will be profound when we do. …Raising interest rates to stop a housing bubble; nonsense. Causes stagflation, -- peculiar inflationary trends. Rate of return is interest rates only. Must stay at same low fair rate. They always make it easier to get a loan in a bad economy, or the housing market will have no spenders.

you said on twitter that blacks kill more-what about the lynchings and hangings that were carried out on blacks but swept under the rug. so stop going around claiming your race is better than other races an implying blacks are killers.
